Editor's Verdict: As the name suggests, this website can provide you with listings information on thousands upon thousands of distressed homes being sold by the Department of Housing and Urban Development. However it also covers quite a lot of other foreclosures and pre-foreclosures across the entire US. A foreclosure listings service's main function is to gather and collate information on distressed properties and make this information conveniently accessible to its subscribers, so the quality of its search engine and property reports are always paramount. In this case both the searching and reporting functions are merely satisfactory rather than excellent. You get about the same amount of detail and flexibility as you will find on the average foreclosure listings site charging roughly the same price. A minor flaw is the paucity of information for potential customers who might want to compare what you can expect to get for your money at HUD Foreclosed compared to such similar sites. There is no sample listings report available to view, for example, so you just have to trust them when they say they provide the best service around. The website's bonus features are limited and only available to subscribers, which makes the welcome page feel a bit sparse for newcomers. Such features include, for example, a range of links to companies which might be willing to help you finance your foreclosure purchase. In terms of information resources, members also get access to foreclosure buying guides as well as real estate news and trend information. There are also opportunities to connect with other site members. As far as extras go this is fine but, again, not a patch on what you get with the very best Foreclosure listings websites. One distinguishing feature is that HUD Foreclosed provides a wider choice of membership options than you normally see. As well as the usual 7 day trial (some sites offer this for free, but this one charges a nominal fee) and monthly subscriptions, there are also 6-monthly and annual membership options to choose from. The 6 month option is about $140 cheaper than six months paid at the monthly rate and the 12 month option about $300 cheaper than the same amount of time paid at the monthly rate. There are no 7 day trials for either the 6 or 12 month options, but that's probably because the considerable savings you make with these options make it largely superfluous. One one hand it's nice to see a foreclosure website taking into account the amount of time the average customer is likely to need their services for and providing an option to suit them. On the the other hand there are a lot of foreclosure sites around that offer a 12 month subscription which costs roughly the same as HUD Foreclosed's 6 month subscription. This means that whilst the 6 and 12 month options available here are good value compared to the monthly rate, they really aren't good value when compared to many of their competitor's annual rates. Customer support is available via email or phone (manned during business hours, Pacific time) and if you choose to cancel your membership this can be done very quickly via an easy link on the website itself. HUDForeclosed.com provides pretty good foreclosure listings information at an about average price. Otherwise it doesn't do much to distinguish itself from the ever-growing ranks of competitors for your foreclosure listings dollar.
